Post subject: | Chamber of Mazarbul pieces updated |
I want to do a new gate for the Battle in Balin's Tomb game and for a battle where the last of Balin's expedition is overwhelmed by goblins. The battle takes place in the Chamber of Records or Chamber of Mazarbul. My question is I want to put the dwarven runes for Mazarbul on the doorframe, do I need to say Chamber of Mazarbul or just Mazarbul? My feeling is just Mazarbul. Thoughts? |

Hi Mapper, in the appendix of "The Return of the King" Tolkien gave us a list of dwarven runes (cirths). The word "Mazarbul" can be written with the cirths as 6 - 48 - 17 -48 -12 - 2- 42 - 31 (using the numbers from Tolkien's list). I could send you a picture of the runes, but that would take some extra effort, and it would be easier, if you could look it up in the book. But let me know, I you need a picture. The dwarven word for chamber I don't know. Maybe you coudl use the German word "kammer" as a substitute, but I think "Mazarbul" alone would be enough and fitting. However, it's really an interesting project. Good luck with it! |

Thanks Werennor! I do have that book and look at that page often. I usually cheat and go an easier route and look at the page in the Shadow and Flame supplement where they have the runes in English alphabet order. I think I will just go with Mazarbul and rather than etch the runes I bought (and waiting for) from greenstuffworld their tub of dwarven runes and symbols https://www.greenstuffworld.com/en/scen ... mbols.html Will see how that works. Besides been one sided against the dwarves, I'm surprised I haven't seen any scenarios where Balin's expedition fight a series of battles culminating in their last stand in the Chamber of Mazarbul. There is the scenario in Shadow and Flame with the dwarves last stand in Balin's Tomb. |

![]() The dwarven runes from greenstuff world didn't quite work for me, so i copied and pasted the runes from the Shadow and Flame supplement, printed to the scale I wanted and put on the plaster, where I painted it over with gold. The pieces. ![]() Flat board. ![]() With new terrain. ![]() And it fits in the box. ![]() For use on my Moria pieces ![]() |

Decided I wanted to play another game but wasn't quite happy with the pillars I had made. I was happy that they fit in the box but they weren't the same aesthetic as the rest of my Moria pieces. Nothing else to do but get out the molds and some plaster of paris. Added some dwarf heads to the pillars also. One change I did to the game board is to move the rear entrance to Balin's Tomb to the right rear corner. It really isn't mentioned in the game but I wanted it. The board does have a two pillars spot on either side of the light shining on the tomb but I didn't see that as needed. The new pillars are a bit larger that the one inch grid on the board but nothing I can't work around. As long as I was at it, I refreshed the writing on the entrance. Now once I finish my newest cave troll I can play another game. ![]() ![]() the middle one in black is the pillar I have for the rest of Moria, but would have been too big for the game board. ![]() |

Nicely done. I have the old OOP Ziterdes Dwarven Kingdom piece. I will have to carve runes over the door. |

Ziterdes are really well made pieces, wish they would bring back some of their early pieces. |
